#30daysofblogging Day 5: Farmers Market Saturday

A long time ago, I used to do a series of posts called Farmers Market Saturday. I'd take my DSLR to the market with me. Eventually, I tapered off at this, both because everything becomes boring eventually, but also, because my interest in running on Saturday mornings became more important to me than lugging a DSLR to the farmers market.

Anyway, I am still running on weekends, and this year I've also -- for the first time -- really figured out how to make weekly farmers' market trips fit into my life. I'm getting a CSA box every other week (on a Wednesday), and supplement strategically from the farmers market every Saturday. There's so much that's special about the famous Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, and I consider myself so lucky to be able to shop there most weekends.

Today, I stopped in for just a few items (OMG WATERMELON), but also took some photos, just like the old days. Except now, using a phone, is so much easier. Nobody really pays attention to you if you're taking photos with an iPhone. A DSLR definitely makes you stand out. A lot of people do it, but I always felt so self-conscious going up to a pile of strawberries and taking the time to focus my camera, etc -- then walk away without buying everything I photographed. You know?

Anyway: here it is, the first Farmers Market Saturday since 2012!
