I'd planned on writing at least one post over the weekend, but then a thousand things didn't happen, and I had a terrible Friday (was turned down for a promotion at work, didn't get press passes for multiple shows, etc) ... and then, on Sunday, I finally lost the good fight I'd been waging against a cold that had been looming for days.
So now here I am, trying to focus on the good. Fortunately, something really good is happening this week: we're going to my home state of Oregon for Thanksgiving! I realized early this morning that I haven't been back home for Thanksgiving in eleven years. That is a long time! The last time I was there to celebrate Thanksgiving I was eighteen years old. There is a huge difference between 18 and 29. Back then, I was so filled with ennui. Now I couldn't be more excited, filled with joy to be going back! I wouldn't wish 18 on anyone (or, for that matter, an 18-year-old on anyone), but I suppose its something we all have to deal with!
All I can think about right now is going home. I can't wait. Wednesday morning, we'll be flying out of SF early and will be in Portland before 11am (if all goes according to plan, that is). A quick trip to Voodoo Doughnut & then we'll be off to Beaverton (where I grew up) to spend time with family and friends for three days. YES!
